State Representative Katie True (R-41) has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).

Mountville Lions Club presented True with the tribute on Tuesday, April 13, 2010.  She was presented with a plaque and a Melvin Jones Fellow lapel pin.

“I am deeply humbled by this award,” said True.  “As an advocate for children, especially disadvantaged children, it has been a privilege to serve as a Lion. Although I am retiring from politics, my advocacy for children will continue.”

The Melvin Jones Fellowship honors Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Clubs International.  It is the highest form of recognition conferred by the foundation.  It is largely due to the growth of the fellowship program that LCIF has been able to meet humanitarian needs in communities worldwide.

True has been a member of the Mountville Lions Club for several years.
